We are playing a house show on the 2nd of April in Philly at Osage House and our friend and host, Jacques-Jean Tiziou, is trying to fund a great project on Kickstarter called “How Philly Moves”.

A few words from Jacques, “I’ve long had a dream about community-supported-photography, and the kickstarter project is a fantastic way to make this happen… but I am going to need a lot of help in the coming 12 days in order to reach that threshold.”

You can watch the video and see below for more information on the project and if you feel so inclined, donate on the Kickstarter page. Hope to see you at the house show! You can RSVP by clicking on the name “Osage House”.

A city’s greatest resource is its citizens.

Now more than ever, it’s important to create positive images that celebrate our communities, affirm the value of our neighbors, and foster a culture of collaboration.

Over 160 people have already participated in How Philly Moves, sharing their love of dance through community photo sessions. Each and every one of them was perfect.

This year, the existing images are being given a tremendous amount of visibility through a huge mural at the Philadelphia International Airport. But there are literally hundreds more people that still want to participate, and this project has the potential to grow into a larger ongoing celebration of our city.

With your help, we’ll continue How Philly Moves by hosting at least one other round of community photo shoots. These events are open to anyone that self-identifies as a Philadelphian who loves to dance. There are no other criteria, no other instructions. They share their movement, and JJ brings it to you in pictures, continuing to prove that Everyone Is Photogenic.

Your part in this: If you can make a contribution, that’s awesome. Thank you. Even if you can’t, please donate a bit of your time and the power of your networks by continuing to spread the word throughout the funding period.

Communion was born in the summer of 2006 at Notting Hill Arts Club. Founded by Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons), Kevin Jones (Cherbourg) and producer Ian Grimble, it grew into a community of musicians, industry and fans alike, and provided a platform for the newest bands on London’s circuit. The night has seen the likes of Noah and the Whale, Laura Marling, Mumford and Sons, JJ Pistolet and Peggy Sue grace the stage and has become closely associated with the nu-folk movement in the capital. As well as this, it helped spawn the careers of artists such as Esser, The Holloways and Example, in keeping with the eclectic ethos that Communion has come to stand for. Now it’s coming to the US, in Brooklyn. And we’re part of it. Huzzah. This Sunday, January 9th at Public Assembly.
