Gramercy Flier FINAL for Print

Tickets here.

It’s a tie!

June 2, 2009

Thanks so much to everyone who voted for us on The Deli Magazine’s band of the month poll! Turned out to be a perfect tie between us and a sweet Brooklyn rap duo Das Racist who have a constant hunger for fast food. Tight!

So pumped to be feeling all this positive energy lately. Maybe it’s Spring Fever, maybe it’s something aligning with some planets somewhere, maybe it’s love… we don’t know! We’re just feeling so great right now, and so grateful to share that feeling with you.

Love, Jocelyn, Emily, and Jeremy

please vote for us!

Please VOTE for Pearl and the Beard for the Deli Magazine’s Band of the Month poll!

The Deli Magazine is an awesome publication whose goal is to “expose local musical artists that have not yet reached a level of international fame… [and] to inform and advise the NYC community of musicians on any other matter related to making music, from recording it to promoting it and performing it.” They’re good folks! So please take a second to go vote… it’s fast, it’s free, it’s fun, and you could help us win some free goodies!

There is an awesomely kind article written about us and an interview with the talented Zachary Dinerstein for Beyond Race Magazine’s Online section called “Feedback”. It’s about the Album Release show at Joe’s Pub and has a surprisingly cuss filled question and answer portion with yours truly. You can check it out HERE

We proud to be a part of this awesome New York music series that has been running strong for 5 years. Get the Cross-Pollination Mix Tape Vol 2 Free Download now. We’re on Track number 11. Here’s more about it:

CROSS-POLLINATION CELEBRATES 5 YEARS SUPPORTING EMERGING MUSICIANS
NYC CONCERT SERIES OFFERS FREE MIXTAPE FEATURING EXCLUSIVE TRACKS FROM CROSS-POLLINATION ARTISTS!

Cross-Pollination, which has been heralded by the New York Times as “an impressive feat of indie gumption,” will celebrate 5 years of supporting the best up and coming musicians with their 237th show on May 12th. The weekly concert series are offering the second volume in their free, commemorative mixtape series featuring exclusive tracks from artists who have played Cross-Pollination throughout the years (download link below). Countless artists have broken since playing the series – My Brightest Diamond, Cloud Cult, Kimya Dawson, Frightened Rabbit, Jaymay, Jukebox the Ghost, Nicole Atkins and Kevin Devine just to name a few.

Cross-Pollination was created by Jay Goettelmann and Wesley Verhoeve, the founders of creative collective Liberated Matter, with the hope of bringing artists together in a unique way. They came up with the concept of pairing two artists together, with each playing a 45-minute set, followed by a collaborative set in which both performers share the stage. These special sets are ‘one time art’ and have included everything from bands joining in on each others songs, collaborating on covers, and co-writing new songs for the event.

Cross-Pollination not only offers audiences exposure to new music that is easy on their wallets (all shows are free!), but it fosters a community among artists. After Cross-Pollination collaborations artists have formed bands, gone on tour together, and even started dating!

NYC rockers The Bloodsugars and Dinosaur Feathers will play Cross-Pollination’s 5th Anniversary show on May 12th on Piano’s main stage.

In July 2008 Liberated Matter and independent digital retailer Amie Street teamed up to spread the word about Cross-Pollination and provide an outlet for Cross-Pollination artists to sell their music

Ah….Just got back from 3 days of shows.  First we played at SUNY Purchase’s Pre-Shock event which was totally awesome. The kids down there rocked and were really supportive so thank you. Emily played a short set right before we went on. Then we played a couple house concerts for some extremely nice and hospitable people in Connecticut. Our bellies ache with the amount of food we consumed. I’m not sure the recession has touched down there. Anyway, we are looking forward to the cd releases in Boston and in New York as if it was going out of style to get excited about anything. Check out the shows page for details.
