April 30th marks the very first Green Getaways, Local Food and Travel Expo hosted by EscapeMaker.com. What does that mean, you ask? Well, your ticket includes:
• Wine and cheese tastings
• Sustainability workshops
• Local food samples
• Prizes and giveaways
• A view of the gorgeous interior of the historic clock tower at Skylight One Hanson
• A chance to milk “Dutchess” the 6ft. 300lb fake milkable cow from the Dutchess County Fair
• Musical performances by Pearl and the Beard, Ugly Purple Sweater, and Kingsley Flood
That’s right, Pearl and the Beard and a milkable cow. Get your tickets here!
And great news, everyone: EscapeMaker.com will be doing a carbon offset for our Green Getaways Tour with Kingsley Flood and Ugly Purple Sweater! Based on the amount of miles each band travels and how much gas is burned over the course of the tour, EscapeMaker.com will make a donation to Carbonfund.org and Green Mountain Energy. That money is then used to buy renewable wind energy or to plant trees to offset all the carbon we emitted during the course of the tour. Incredible!
So please come join us at the Expo… it’s the first event of its kind, and not to be missed! Find out when we’ll be playing and look up the schedule of the other green-themed events here. See you at the Expo!

Philly friends (and friends all over) – Support this great project!

We are playing a house show on the 2nd of April in Philly at Osage House and our friend and host, Jacques-Jean Tiziou, is trying to fund a great project on Kickstarter called “How Philly Moves”.
A few words from Jacques, “I’ve long had a dream about community-supported-photography, and the kickstarter project is a fantastic way to make this happen… but I am going to need a lot of help in the coming 12 days in order to reach that threshold.”
You can watch the video and see below for more information on the project and if you feel so inclined, donate on the Kickstarter page. Hope to see you at the house show! You can RSVP by clicking on the name “Osage House”.
A city’s greatest resource is its citizens.
Now more than ever, it’s important to create positive images that celebrate our communities, affirm the value of our neighbors, and foster a culture of collaboration.
Over 160 people have already participated in How Philly Moves, sharing their love of dance through community photo sessions. Each and every one of them was perfect.
This year, the existing images are being given a tremendous amount of visibility through a huge mural at the Philadelphia International Airport. But there are literally hundreds more people that still want to participate, and this project has the potential to grow into a larger ongoing celebration of our city.
With your help, we’ll continue How Philly Moves by hosting at least one other round of community photo shoots. These events are open to anyone that self-identifies as a Philadelphian who loves to dance. There are no other criteria, no other instructions. They share their movement, and JJ brings it to you in pictures, continuing to prove that Everyone Is Photogenic.
Your part in this: If you can make a contribution, that’s awesome. Thank you. Even if you can’t, please donate a bit of your time and the power of your networks by continuing to spread the word throughout the funding period.
